Beachlands
A fabulous redesign of the entire ground level living spaces that has become a contemporary aesthetic with strong Scandinavian and modern European influences.

Listening to the clients wishes and needs is the most important thing when remodelling their living spaces. Knowing their needs, how they live and use spaces is very important us.
Some of the important things we considered in changing this floorplan are:
• The client has two young teenagers who will want their own space more and more so we created a 2nd lounge retreat.

• The client loves to cook but does not want to feel isolated in the kitchen, so we created an open plan kitchen flowing to both lounges and outdoors area. The kitchen has become the central point in the home.

• Client rarely entertains and there is no need for a formal dining area. Therefor we have created an attached dining are to the kitchen island so the family can enjoy their informal dinners and kids can do their home work or arts and crafts at the table while mum is in the kitchen. For occasions there will be a formal dinner we have connected the kitchen with outdoor area with large bi-fold doors that lead to a covered patio with outdoor dining.

• Furthermore we needed to include a guest toilet, laundry and study.

The contemporary aesthetic we have created includes strong Scandinavian and European influences. With a balanced mix of beige, taupe, sage green and a hint of blue, this combination displays a calm and contemporary scheme. The sofa in the centre with clean lines and neutral upholstery fits the Scandinavian-modern style being functional and comfortable without visual bulk. A minimalist armchair in green and timber introduces an intentional pop of colour and texture while keeping with the organic theme. The rounded coffee table and ottoman create flow in the space and softens the angular layout which is very in line with contemporary design’s shift toward gentle forms. A wall-mounted floating shelf below the TV adds sleek practicality without clutter.

The sculptural decor on the shelf, ladder towel rack, and potted plant suggest a lived-in, well-edited space. There’s a strong emphasis on clean lines, negative space, and functional beauty, which all align with modern European design values.

Concrete, wood, woven textiles, and ceramic accessories give the space a tactile, grounded feel. Soft sheers paired with Roman blinds offer layering and privacy while enhancing natural light being a classic Scandinavian layering. The herringbone timber floor adds subtle pattern and visual interest, elevating the overall materiality.
The inclusion of pendant lights and concealed LED strip under shelving are well-thought additions, providing layers of ambient and task lighting typical of contemporary design.
